Lead-lined doors are designed for protection from X-Rays. The construction of this door is made up of a lamination of composite board and lead. The thickness of lead will depend on the level of radiation being used in the area concerned and is determined by the Hospital authorities/architect
Doors are preferably placed in a position of sliding by using a reputable sliding gear designed to carry the weight of the door. Hinged doors require either 3 pairs of heavy-duty hinges per leaf or a continuous hinge.
The frames are manufactured from 1.6mm steel, either in mild steel with factory coated red oxide or galvanized. The rebate section measures 46 x 25mm.
Ironmongery must be applied with care so as not to damage the integrity of the lead.
The finish of the door would be to the Architects requirements.
The frame and door are supplied as a unit, therefore all precautions must be taken to install the unit square and plumb.
The installation of sliding doors must be carried out with care in order to protect the integrity of the door.
The Door Group is able to supply the pelmet and sliding gear on request.
